Debt Consolidation for Danielle of Brisbane
Filed Under Debt Consolidation Case Studies
Danielle finished year 12 at the end of 2006 then completed a 6 month TAFE course and landed her first job. She couldn’t believe it, she had money of her own every week and living at home she did not have many expenses.
She went out and bought herself a new car with a personal loan from her bank. Then she needed a credit card because every working girl needs one. Then she received an offer of another card in the post so she took it also. She got herself 2 different store cards, each with a $2,000 credit limit and bought herself new outfits, shoes, the latest brand new mobile phone and IPod, you name it and she needed it.
A year later and everything had spiraled out of control. Her car insurance and registration was due and she had no money to pay it and all her cards were maxed out. Most of her weekly wage was going on paying back the overdue credit and store cards and her car loan was 2 months in arrears with the bank calling her every week wanting to know when they would get their repayments.
Danielle felt that if she could consolidate all her credit and store cards into one debt consolidation loan with one monthly repayment instead of 5 monthly repayments all falling due on different dates she could manage much better.
Danielle approached her own bank about a debt consolidation loan but was refused. Then she tried the Credit union with no luck either. Danielle contacted Debt Control about assisting her to consolidate her debts into one affordable monthly repayment.
One of Debt Control’s consolidation specialists discussed Danielle’s situation with her and was able to help her consolidate $35,000 of debt into one affordable repayment of $170 per week which enabled her to pay off her debts and still have money to live on.
