Debt Consolidation for Jodie of Perth WA.

Filed Under Debt Consolidation Case Studies

Jodie (not her real name) approached Debt Control for debt consolidation help after being refused a debt consolidation loan by her bank and Credit Union.  She felt that if she could consolidate all her debts into one loan with one regular monthly repayment instead of multiple payments at all different times each month she could cope with her debt situation.

Jodie was self employed and was unable to make her usual income during her pregnancy so she depended on her partner’s income but he had debts of his own to pay so they started to struggle financially.  Jodie ended up with credit cards over their limits and the banks wanting immediate payment of the full balances and her 2 personal loans were 3 months in arrears with one of the lenders threatening legal action.

She was having trouble sleeping at night and was afraid to answer the phone as creditors were now calling several times each week and she did not know what to tell them or how she was going to get out of debt.  Jodie had debts exceeding $52,000 which was made up of credit cards, personal loans and a tax debt from her small business.

One of the debt collection agents that had been calling Jodie suggested she contact Debt Control as they had been able to assist some of their other clients.  One of Debt Control’s helpful consultants discussed Jodie’s situation with her and was able to help her consolidate her debts into one easy payment of $200 per week which was $220 a week less than the payment arrangements she had in place with her creditors.
